Extra credit for exam

1. The man was pushed by a panhandler in New York City. The photographer was able to take the photo by trying to get the driver to notice his flash and hopefully stop the train.
2. The photographer said he took the picture to warn the driver of the train that there was a man about to be killed by the train. He wanted the driver to see the flash of the camera.
3. I definitely do not think the man should have taken the photo. He could have been a hero and tried to save the man instead of taking the photo of the man about to die.
4. No I do not think this was a good option. He should have saved the man instead of taking the picture.
5. I agree that the photo should be on the front page of the New York post because it shows how careful you have to be in the city. Dangerous people do bad things to other people, so people should be aware.
6. For most photojournalist, the want to take life risking photos instead of stopping bad things from happening. This is because they want there photos to go places and it helps their career.
7. Yes because if they were in that situation they could help the person who is in danger.
8. Yes because people are more important than a photograph.
9.  The photographers commenting felt that the photographer who took the photo should have done something to save the man.

4. No it is not acceptable to change a person's appearance in photoshop because young girls want to look like the photoshopped version of a model and expect to look perfect, and they start feeling insecure about themselves.
6. I guess it is okay to change the contrast of the photo but not the person.
7. Fashion photography is taking pictures of models in clothes they are trying to sell and make the clothes good. Photography is any type of event in pictures.
8. They are not relatable at all because it is all fake.
9. I think Mr. Reeves is showing us these videos to show us that our self portraits do not have to look perfect like photoshop models.
10. None of these videos are about guys maybe because they aren't so insecure about themselves.

5 blogs- Style

On the website I looked at, it described how to take a style photo using steps. For example, using line, texture, shape, form, color and pattern.
I learned how to take portraits of people. I can use this in Mr. Reeves class by using the techniques and using the rules to take photos of people.
The article I read did expand my knowledge.

Self Portrait and Portraits part 1

Play with eye contact. It is amazing how much the direction of your subject’s eyes can impact an image. Most portraits have the subject looking down the lens – something that can create a real sense of connection between a subject and those viewing the image
Environmental Portrait
I like this photo because it shows real life situations.
Shoot Candidly.
I like this environmental portrait because it shows an athlete next to something she is good at.
I like this photography self portrait because I think it is very creative.
This photography self portrait is very creative and a very interesting idea.
This casual portrait is very cute and I like it because of the pretty background.
I like this casual portrait because of the angle and the background it makes the picture really pretty and porfessional.

For my portrait asignnment I will probably be shooting outside where tons of pretty flowers are located. I will shoot my friends
Sometimes posed shots can look somewhat…. posed. Some people don’t look good in a posed environment and so switching to a candid type approach can work.

American Soldier

A. I think the most powerful picture of the article is picture 5. I think this because it shows how well he is getting along with his peers and leader. His leader even said he is doing well and that he is attached to Ian.
B. The images work together to make a story by putting Ian's emotions in each photo.
C. Captions enhance photos by explaining what is going on in the photo.
D. Ian Fisher said he wanted to enlist into the army the year before his 17th birthday. He started to train hard every day before the day came. After he graduated from his high school he joined. At first Ian Fisher wanted to leave the army only after 2 days of joining. He had a change of heart after talking to his commander.  It was hard for him at first, but after he started being closer to his peers and commander. He joined for God and his Country.
E. First person.
F.
1. Captions are two or more.
2. They provide information about what is going on in the current photo.
3. They provide quotes.
4. Dates.
5. Yes, some of the captions include a quote.
6. I have only seen once caption with 4 sentences.
G. It is possible because
H. Stories have more background information.

Great Grandma celebrating her new marriage at her bachelorette party! Long story short, things got a little crazy with the cops.
She is mad that she did not win the bingo game Tuesday night.  She suprisingly threw the table and almost gave the old folks a heart attack!
She does not even know who is playing in the NFL game, but since she got this cool do and tattoo, it does not matter to her.

Prompt Shoot #2

Purple
Cold
Electric

1. I felt very sad and grief.
2. He probably means that their life was not as sad as the photos showed because they have each other.
3. I think I would take photos like that because I want to remember the last memories of the person I care for.
4. I would say that I am sorry for his loss and that his photos are beautiful.

Abandoned Theme Parks

I would like to explore the abandoned theme park in Takakanonuma Greenland. This is because of all the open space the park has. The abandoned rides there are probably really good objects to take photos of.

Places to take photos:
-Airport
-School
-Park
-Roof
-Neighborhood

Africa

-This is my favorite photo taken by Nick Brandt because he took it of my favorite animals.
-I think the rule Nick Brandt used was balance. The animals are all well balanced together.
-The camera he uses is
-The reason he takes these photos is to capture african wildlife in their state of being.
-He wants people t see that the animals he takes pictures of are not dangerous.
-"Simply, I find myself moved every time I go to these places and see these animals in these settings."

1.  I totally think our school should do this project.
2. We should use phones only since its  Instagram inspired. It makes it more real.
3. I think the mural would look good in the front of the school right where you walk in, or it should be in the courtyard by the big tree.

Great Black and White Photographers part 3

1. I really like the photographer I picked for my great black and white assignment because he is a fashion photographer, and that is my favorite photographer.

2.

I See people posing, trying to help Irving Penn make a great photo. I also see the cameras flashing.
I Smell anxiety of trying to take the most perfect photo. Irving Penn wanted James Bowie and his wife to look absolutely perfect. He also wanted the perfect angle that makes the models look best.
I Hear the cameras flashing.  The click is music to my ears.
I Taste the amount of hairspray in the air, filling up the whole room.
I Feel the perfection in the room.

3. I would like to show off my photographer by making a power point.

Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique

1. The challenges I encountered while taking the photos trying to follow the rules was probably trying really hard to take good photos and trying to follow the rules.
2. I was thinking mostly of focusing the camera and making the photos not super bright. I had a problem with that.
3. Yes I would do the photo shoot over again because it was a hard assignment for me.
4. The things I would do the same is picking the right classes to shoot at.
5. The rule I will achieve easily will probably be Framing.
6. The hardest rule to achieve was lines.
7. The rule that is mostly not clear to me is probably the rule of thirds. I will probable have to do research on that rule.
